Quito, Churches and Carnivals

El Basilica church a grey stone church with wonderful stained glass ,stone birds and fabulous tower with great city view. Huge circular stained glass up very steep streets to Basilica and then up a ladder to the twin towers. Museo de San Fransisco & Plaza. The museo was an old monastery lovely gardens with water fountain, lots of paintings but not much else. Tried to get into the domed Jesus Christ church but museo de centro was fabulous and interesting all about Ecuador from the Indians before the Spanish until now. Quito has many interesting festivals where the locals dress up in their finest outfits and dance day and night. The ceremonies are a mixture of beliefs of Spanish, African, Inca and Mayan descent with Catholicism thrown in.
