CENIT Womens’ Workshop

Ali Pickard and I wanted to help the mothers earn a better income than the $3 per day they got working in the markets, which was very much under the national average. Our initial products were earrings and brooches made out of recycled paper and old maps. We then bought equipment through grants that I managed to obtain and started to produce cards. Ali designed the project, designed the products and taught the women how to make the products. My job was obtaining finance and also selling and marketing the products. I had help from the many volunteers of CENIT especially Terry and Dominic. Our product meetings often took plan in Finn McCools the local hostelry!

Firstly we raised funds for our project through crowd funding and our friends helped greatly.  Then I obtained funds through writing for grants.
