Lavender Fields

These photos were taken in Banstead, Surrey. The beautiful purple Lavender fields in full bloom are not only lovely but smell divine. Lavender is not only used in soaps and perfumes but is meant to calm the nerves and give you a better sleep. It also has anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Bees make honey from its pollen.

Phoenicians, Arabians, and Egyptians used lavender for mummification. The mummies were wrapped in lavender-dipped garments.
