Mindo

Mindo is a small village in a cloud forest in Ecuador and has it’s own micro climate. The village is a wonderful place to relax with orchids and humming birds and toucans in the luscious gardens of the many hostels and Pousadas. I love going there and my favourite place is Rodney’s El Descanso a small hotel (pousada) where he keeps a stunning garden and hummingbirds and toucans and Tanagers flock to his plants and feeders. I have fallen in love with the beautiful hummingbirds who flit around and show acrobatics flying upside down. Outside there are waterfalls, hiking trails and there is a Cock of the Rock lek where you can see this magnificent red headed bird. I did manage to see them at Las Tangaras reserve but not close enough to take good photos.
