Part of the enjoyment for me visiting Angkor Wat is cycling round the closer sites. The further away sites can be reached by tuk tuk and I was lucky enough to find a great tuk tuk driver who looked after me and waited for me to take the photos that i wanted. It gets very hot so I chose to see the sites in the early morning and late afternoon and swam during the day paying a few dollars for the pleasure of cooling down. The Angkor Wat site is enormous and you need quite a few days to see and enjoy everything. Otherwise it all becomes a big blur. I have been there twice now and I still haven’t seen everything. It seems that i missed a sight that I did not know about until afterwards.

One of the most interesting things to do in Battambang is ride the bamboo train. When the train has to turn around they dismantle it and then get it to face the other way and off we go again. Battambang is a pretty centre with a riverside setting and Colonial buildings. It has a small town feel even though it is Cambodia’s second largest city.

I arrived to Battambang by boat from Siem Reap passing the floating villages on my way. Tonle Sap lake provides home to many Cambodian people who live on the lake.  Siem Reap is the main town for visiting Angkor Wat and as result is heavy with traffic, full of cafes, restaurants, hotels, guesthouses and a thriving night life with massage parlours and night markets.
