Annapurna

Pokhara was a beautiful town with a gorgeous stunning green lake reflecting the mountains behind. Shops and restaurants abound and many hotels can rightly claim to have views of Annapurna from their windows. Most tours of Annapurna and the Himalaya start from Pokhara and all supplies for a trek can be bought there as well as tours organised. But for the lack of tourists it was hard to believe that there were problems in Nepal in this peaceful environment and my trip there was fabulous.
I had a wonderful guide/ porter Tikka organised by Mr Happy who rightly deserved his name. I trekked Annapurna without the crowds and with beautiful displays of spring flowers. There were only two trekkers at Annapurna base camp that day so i had an amazing view.
Annapurna 1,2,3 was a wonderful trek and stunningly beautiful as the flowers were blossoming after the monsoon rains. I encourage everyone to visit Nepal, they really need tourists now after the devastating earthquake, and experience this trek at least once in their lifetime. Pokhara, where the treks start, has not been greatly affected by the earthquake. My thanks go to Tikka and the lovely people I met on the trail. I would also like to thank Dipendra Phuyal, another great guide, that I met on the trail for guiding me round Kathmandu. These guides with their specialist knowledge enhance the whole travel experience.
