Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is one of my favourite cities in the world. The historic centre is small enough and surrounded by a moat to not be spoilt. The streets are small and narrow with just enough space at times for a tuk tuk to pass. Cycling is the best form of transport. You can get anything fixed here as there are so many small businesses: fix shoes, mend clothes, washing ironing the Thai people are industrious but smiling happily as they go about their work. Chiang Mai has many lovely restaurants and cafe’s with many offering fresh (not sugared) juices, fresh fruit and vegetables and of course the wonderful Thai cooking. Cooking schools, yoga schools and massage schools abound as do travel agents selling trips to the North of Thailand and the golden triangle..Just out of central city moat is a modern area with more upmarket restaurants, hotels and cafes and on another side of the moat is the red light district. For Salsa, Tango, Zumba and Ceroc fans Chiang Mai has great and friendly clubs to join. I had a wonderful time introducing my friend Vanessa to this wonderful city.
I loved being in Thailand and did lots of meditation and yoga and enjoyed plenty of massages. The food there is terrific not too spicy.
