Myanmar (Burma)

Myanmar was my next stop and again I loved the Burmese people who always smiled and said hello and asked if they could help me. The backpacker tourist infrastructure is not there yet and so everywhere was expensive but thanks toMyanmar’s historical connections with the UK everyone spoke English. People wear a paste on their faces to protect themselves from the sun and don’t rub it in so there are generally two big white splotches on each cheek from this paste. I wish I could have taken photos of some of the more bizarre designs. Bagan was Myanmar’s answer to Cambodia’s Angkor Wat and equally as beautiful but much more spread out. It takes full week or longer to get to all the main sites. I learnt to ride an electric motorbike here. It was very scary for the first few minutes but such a great way to get around as it was extremely hot during the day in Bagan. Myanmar was probably one of the safest countries to travel and I never felt in any danger walking on my own at any point.
