Bonito and the Pantanal, Brazil

Bonito (Spanish for Beautiful) is, as it’s name suggests, a beautiful place and well worth a visit. It has a small town with many shops, tourist agencies, hotels, pousadas, cafes and restaurants everything a traveller would need for their trip. You are surrounded by beautiful waterfalls, grottos, blue and yellow and red and green Maccaws, forests for hiking, lazy rivers and animal and plant life. The Chapada had amazing walks. I went off season to Fazenda San Fransisco in Pantanal and saw Jaguars, (twice) an Ocelot, many beavers, caiman and amazing bird life especially hawks and falcons.
Pantanal was a great place to visit for bird and animal even better than the Amazon as many animals have been killed by Oil companies and oil spills and the remainder have hidden deep into the jungle and you don’t see anymore. The Fazenda San Fransisco in Pantanal was wonderful and we were lucky with the weather ( end of rainy season). The bird life and animal life was fabulous.
This is a lovely part of Brazil which doesn’t seem to get many foreign tourists.
