Lencois- Bahia

Lencois is a very pretty little town with cobblestone streets, cafes, restaurants and trekking companies and you can walk everywhere. It is in Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina the stopping point for many treks and hikes through the forests. You can climb up large canyons, hike or camp, slide down natural slides near the waterfalls and swim in the natural swimming holes in the porous rock.

This is a gorgeous place to hike or horse ride and discover the unusual mountains, caves, rivers, grottos and forests. Lencois was once a diamond town in Colonial days and has been wonderfully preserved. It is a National Historic Monument. Sitting at a pavement cafe listening to live music while enjoying a Capirinha after a hard day’s trek was a highlight for me.
