Tarabuco Carnival

This is the Carnival of Pisily which is an indigenous village where everyone speaks Quechua. the people here maintain the original customs and costumes from Inca times. the activity of the region of Pisily is agriculture and work with cloth for example weaving ponchos. La Pukara is the totem pole like structure made up of ladders adonred with plants and produce from the area like fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meat, bread among other things. The dance Pujllay is a ritual giving thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth). The people dance round the Pukara and pass round bread and cheese. Often thsi is put on the heads of the dancers or the bread round the neck of the dancers if it is circular with a hole in it. I had bread put on my head.
