Yucatan Mexico

Bus to Campeche took much longer than I thought. Campeche I loved the nice streets where you can sit and eat without traffic. This walled city has lots of great arches so I didn’t travel far. Sunsets were magnificent at the Melanin. I did the walk on the wall over the town twice. There were great sound and light show at weekends but pirate show was a bit of a disappointment. Met Max when we shared a lift into town and then met him again in town and also in Merida. Maya Campeche hotel was very nice and comfortable. Shame they didn’t do breakfast so had to get out early.
Merida is a big town with a lovely Zocalo and great coffee. Quite a walk from hotel to the centre. Huge walks to the market and also to get a bus to Izamal, the yellow city, which was fabulous and very yellow in the evening sunlight. Met Kirsty and we dined together in a  nice arty restaurant. I went the wrong way and walked for miles my first day. After that I was Ok but  to get bus to Izamal was a long walk and back in the dark. Tourist office very friendly and they recommend that I toured the public buildings as they had great art murals.
Bus to Valladolid. Next day Chichen iIza which is a huge site and I got a bit bored. Valladolid is a nice town. Accommodation was good with a swimming pool which was great after the heat of the day. The hotel had a nice courtyard. The Valladolid convent was lovely and I went to a video mapping show which was great and afterwards was traeted to a concert in main square. Every night something different was happening. Lovely narrow streets to the way to convent. Valladolid had a great main square and lots of nice restaurants and cafes. I went to snazzy restaurant with music and ate there.
Isla mujeres didn’t go to Tulum after all. I had done too much travelling.  I cycled in the morning for 2 hours. It was very hot and went to the South of the island where there is lots to do. Zip line, Mayan ruins, nice restaurants, dolphin sighting. Didn’t do any of it as running out of money. I wanted to go to Zumas beach club. Listened to music one night. Sat at beach swing bar talking to people which was nice. Did yoga twice in one day great teacher. Lal maharaja. Isla Mujeres has lovely blue green sea and white soft sand. In the end knew a few people but very silent trip.
