Guango Lodge

Mindo is a cloud forest about 2 hours from Quito. It has it’s own micro climate and attracts wonderful birds like Hummingbirds, Toucans and Tanagers which are seen regularly. Nearby you can also find the Cock of the Rock a beautiful red crested bird. Each lodge in Mindo seems to have it’s own particular birds and climate and Guango Lodge in Mindo is no different and a wonderful place to see hummingbirds. I found two beautifully different hummingbirds that I hadn’t seen elsewhere: The sword billed hummingbird and the Violet tail sylph. The sword billed hummingbird’s beak is longer than it’s body. The violet tail sylph has a beautiful turquoise tail. Guango Lodge is a lovely place but it’s climate is very wet and I found it cold so wrap up warm if you want to visit!
