Lima
I found Lima a city of contrasts. Founded by Fransisco Pizzaro Lima has a historic centre with wonderful churches, cloisters and monasteries but it is also a very modern city with high rise condos, casinos and hotels. The food is both modern and traditional with gastronomical dishes such as ceviche and cuy (guinea pig). It has beautiful beaches combining with the city life of 8.5 million people and gorgeous parks. Lima has a treasure trove of history Inca archeological sites, pre Columbian sites, and also museums depicting the horrors of the Spanish Inquisition. It is a sophisticated city with edgy art and religious processions.
