Conviven

Fifteen young investigators were looking for the tree from North East Argentina. Armed with magnifying glasses and binoculars they had been set a task to find a variety of leaves and the largest tree in the Gardens. They were divided into small teams with a Conviven volunteer helping to keep the eager young detectives on track. Even two year old Damien took part.
The visit to Jardin Botanico was a great success. Not only did it teach the children about plant and tree life but it gave them great fun and pleasure. The Jardin Botanico representative gave a small talk and tested the knowledge of the children by asking fun questions. Then she set them on the assignment with a clipboard and instructions.
Our visit ended with us singing and dancing in homage round the Ombu tree. After that we had a quick visit to a nearby playground before the long bus journey home with our sleepy young detectives.
Very different was a visit to Graffiti Mundo to watch the street artists in action. The kids loved the colourful and exciting walls while the adults learnt the history and the meaning behind the art whilst keeping a weathered eye on the children whose energy was unbounded.
I had as much fun as the children during their summer holidays.
