Fundacion- Amen riding with the disabled

I loved watching the children’s faces when they saw the horses. These severely disabled children would come alive with the touch of a horse. My job was to hold the child onto the horse and walk round the paddock. Getting up very early and travelling from Quito to Tumbaco was tough but the rewards of happy children were worth it.  The foundation does have a place to stay for volunteers who want to stay a month or longer.  there are very little facilities in Ecuador to help disabled children and their parents. I saw one mother piggybacking her 12 year old child to walk as she had no other way to transport him.

AMEN is a non-profit making charity. Most of the people who receive therapy cannot afford to pay for the sessions. AM-EN relies almost exclusively on international grants and donations.
